Natural areas
The Abbey of Our Lady of Refuge is located in the middle of the countryside. During your stay, take time to explore this beautiful environment in between meals and prayer services.
Nearby the abbey
Nearby you will find the abbey’s meadows and country lanes, which since the end of 2011, are now made accessible to interested parties in association with Natuurmonumenten. There are several benches that offer a stunning view of the broad canals and meadows rich with wild flowers.
A little further away you will find more lovely sites to explore in the area surrounding the abbey: the Veldekensberg, the De Moeren country estate and De Lange Maten nature reserve. Or take a stroll along Stouwdreef and a walk in the direction of Klein Zundert. You cross Turfvaart and could make a detour to the Theekoepel. A little further and you will find the Pannenhoef nature reserve.
On the other side of Rucphenseweg there is the picturesque Moersebaan and the Oude Buisse Hei where Henriëtte Roland Holst and her husband had their summer residence.
