Our abbey
Abbey Maria Toevlucht ‘Our Lady of Refuge’ finds his origin in 1900 and was initially a place of refuge for French monks who were on the run after the French revolution. On 14 September 1938, the priory of Zundert was elevated to the status of an abbey. Over the years, the abbey has undergone many changes, not just architecturally.
Our guest house
An increasing number of people choose to temporarily retreat from their busy lives, to experience what the soul needs: silence, rest and prayer. The unique location of our abbey in the countryside also encourages inner reflection.
Our abbey shop
Our abbey shop stocks a fine selection of abbey product, books, CDs and religious items. Of course, it also sells our very own Zundert Trappist beer.
Our brewery
A beer is only a Trappist beer if it is brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey, under the monks’ supervision. There are only a limited number of Trappist breweries worldwide, two of which are located in the Netherlands.
